White Moose, the Westcountry’s youngest contemporary art gallery situated in Barnstaple, North Devon, has announced that Italian photographer Giacomo Brunelli is the 10th artist to join their latest exhibition Masquerade. Incorporating photography and film, Masquerade challenges the concept of the portrait through the work of ten influential contemporary artists from the UK and other parts of the world.
Giacomo Brunelli first received international acclaim with his stunning and confrontational series The Animals and The Animals II. His latest body of work, of which a number of pieces will be shown as part of Masquerade, consists of self-portraits. As before, Brunelli demonstrates his own unique take on each genre he takes on. Brunelli has just been commissioned by The Photographers’ Gallery, London, for a project to be finalised and exhibited from March 2014.
Masquerade is a curatorial collaboration with High House Gallery, Oxon.
Masquerade features: Jonny Briggs (UK), Giacomo Brunelli (Italy), Anne Collier (USA), Emma Critchley (UK), Virgilio Ferreira (Portugal), Aneta Grzeszykowska (Poland), Annalie Grabey (UK), Alison Jackson (UK), Minhong Pyo (South Korea), and John Stezaker (UK).
